Private Thoughts Upon a Christian Life; or, Necessary Directions for Its Beginning and Progress Upon Earth... Part II.

William Beveridge (1637–1708) was an English churchman who became bishop of St Asaph in 1704 and was famed for his learning in the early church and canon law. He edited the Apostolic Constitutions and a great collection of church canons, and preached and wrote for the ordinary Christian as well. Our library holds his Private Thoughts upon Religion and Private Thoughts upon a Christian Life, devotional classics long treasured for their humility and self-examination.

About this book

Part II of William Beveridge's Private Thoughts, the devotional notebooks of the bishop of St. Asaph, published after his death. Where the first part treats religion in general, this part follows the Christian life itself — its beginning and progress on earth — with searching self-examination and practical direction. Beveridge's plain, earnest piety made these volumes long-lived favorites.
