Abraham Kuyper (1837–1920) was a Dutch Calvinist theologian, pastor, and statesman. He founded the Free University of Amsterdam, the Anti-Revolutionary Party, and the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands, edited a daily newspaper, and served as prime minister from 1901 to 1905. His Princeton Stone Lectures, published as Calvinism, and his great work The Work of the Holy Spirit are both in our library, along with many of his meditations.

A book of meditations by the Dutch theologian and statesman Abraham Kuyper, published in English in 1918. Taking its theme from the psalmist's words, 'it is good for me to draw near to God,' it reflects on communion with God amid the duties and pressures of ordinary life. The pieces join Reformed doctrine to warm, personal devotion.
