The Christian's Great Interest

The Christian's Great Interest

William Guthrie (1620–1665) was a Scottish Presbyterian minister at Fenwick in Ayrshire. A warm and searching preacher, he was ejected from his parish at the Restoration and died soon after. Our library holds The Christian's Great Interest (1659), his classic guide to discerning a genuine saving interest in Christ — praised by John Owen and still reprinted as a model of experimental, pastoral divinity.

About this book

William Guthrie's treatise on how a person may come to have a true interest in Christ, first published in 1659. Guthrie first shows how Christ and His benefits are offered in the gospel, then gives plain marks by which readers may try whether they have truly closed with Him. A jewel of Scottish Puritan pastoral writing.
