Miguel de Molinos (1628–1696) was a Spanish Catholic priest and mystic who became the best-known representative of Quietism. From Rome, where he was a sought-after spiritual director, he published The Spiritual Guide (1675), teaching utter passivity of soul and abandonment to God in prayer. The book spread rapidly across Europe before its doctrine was condemned; Molinos spent his final years in prison after his arrest in 1685.

A manual of contemplative prayer by the Spanish priest Miguel de Molinos, published in 1675. Molinos teaches an inward way of recollection, silence, and passive surrender to God, and directs beginners through its early stages and trials. The book spread rapidly across Europe and became the best-known statement of the contemplative teaching soon associated with Quietism.
