Jakob Böhme (1575–1624) was a German Lutheran shoemaker of Görlitz whose visions launched a prolific career of mystical writing. His first book, Aurora, scandalized his pastor and was banned for years, yet his works spread across Europe and influenced Pietism and later philosophy. Our library holds The Way to Christ and his Dialogues on the Supersensual Life, among his more devotional writings on repentance, prayer, and new birth in Christ.

A collection of short treatises by the German shoemaker and lay theologian Jakob Boehme, first published in 1622. Boehme writes on true repentance, heartfelt prayer, and the new birth, calling readers away from outward profession to an inward, living union with Christ. Written in vivid, sometimes difficult language, it became the most widely read of his works.
