Alphonsus Maria de Liguori (1696–1787) was an Italian Catholic bishop, theologian, and prolific spiritual writer, later declared a Doctor of the Church. After a successful legal career he became a priest and in 1732 founded the Redemptorists, a congregation devoted to preaching missions among the neglected poor. His many devotional works include Uniformity with God's Will, a short, much-loved treatise on accepting God's providence in everything.

A short treatise by Alphonsus Liguori, the eighteenth-century Italian bishop and moral theologian, on conforming one's will to the will of God. Liguori teaches that peace is found not in favourable circumstances but in willing what God wills, in sickness and health, loss and gain alike. Simple and direct, it has long been used as a manual of resignation and trust.
