Christ and His Salvation: Sermons

Horace Bushnell (1802–1876) was an American Congregational minister and theologian. During pastorates in Hartford, Connecticut, he became one of the most influential religious thinkers of nineteenth-century America. His Christian Nurture argued that children of believers should grow up never knowing themselves to be anything but Christians, while his sermons and theological works sought fresh statements of faith for a changing age.

About this book

Horace Bushnell's 1864 sermon collection gathers pulpit discourses centered, as its title declares, on Christ and his salvation. Bushnell, an influential American Congregational minister and theologian, treats the person and work of Christ with literary care and pastoral intent. The sermons reflect his effort to present Christian truth imaginatively as well as argumentatively to nineteenth-century hearers.
