Thomas Manton (1620–1677) was an English Puritan clergyman, clerk to the Westminster Assembly and later rector of St Paul's, Covent Garden, in London. A respected preacher — he also served as a chaplain to Oliver Cromwell — Manton was ejected in 1662 and continued ministering in private. His sermons were collected after his death in the multi-volume Complete Works in our library, including his much-loved exposition of Psalm 119.

Volume IV continues the collected works of Thomas Manton, the seventeenth-century Puritan divine whose sermons were prized for clarity and fullness. Here as elsewhere in the set, exposition, doctrine, and application proceed in orderly sequence, leaving few corners of the Christian life unaddressed. It is a volume for slow reading, study, and repeated pastoral use.
