Complete Works of Thomas Manton, D.D. Vol. V

Thomas Manton (1620–1677) was an English Puritan clergyman, clerk to the Westminster Assembly and later rector of St Paul's, Covent Garden, in London. A respected preacher — he also served as a chaplain to Oliver Cromwell — Manton was ejected in 1662 and continued ministering in private. His sermons were collected after his death in the multi-volume Complete Works in our library, including his much-loved exposition of Psalm 119.

About this book

Volume V of Thomas Manton's collected works presents further sermons and treatises from his long ministry of preaching and writing. Manton's method is steady and searching: the text is explained, the doctrine gathered, and the hearer examined, comforted, and directed. Readers who value Puritan preaching that is both systematic and warm will find this volume true to the set.
