God's Way of Peace

God's Way of Peace

Horatius Bonar (1808–1889) was a Scottish churchman and hymnwriter. Minister at Kelso and later at Chalmers Memorial Church in Edinburgh, he left the Church of Scotland at the Disruption of 1843 and helped build the Free Church, whose General Assembly he moderated in 1878. Our library holds his evangelistic God's Way of Peace and The Everlasting Righteousness, and his hymns — such as 'I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say' — are still sung.

About this book

Horatius Bonar's book for anxious inquirers, first published in 1862. Bonar leads the troubled reader away from looking at his own feelings and frames of mind to the finished work of Christ, in whom God has provided peace for sinners. Clear, calm, and direct, it has long been a standard gift for those asking how they may be saved.
