The Rent Veil

The Rent Veil

Horatius Bonar (1808–1889) was a Scottish churchman and hymnwriter. Minister at Kelso and later at Chalmers Memorial Church in Edinburgh, he left the Church of Scotland at the Disruption of 1843 and helped build the Free Church, whose General Assembly he moderated in 1878. Our library holds his evangelistic God's Way of Peace and The Everlasting Righteousness, and his hymns — such as 'I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say' — are still sung.

About this book

Horatius Bonar's devotional study of the veil of the temple, torn at Christ's death, first published in 1875. Bonar dwells on the bold access believers now have into the Holy of Holies through the blood of Jesus, and on the life of near communion with God that such access invites. It is written to draw timid Christians closer.
