About this book

John Tulloch's sermon addresses a nineteenth-century audience unsettled by new questions about faith, knowledge, and the church. Taking religion and theology as his theme, the Scottish theologian considers how living faith and disciplined thought belong together rather than compete for the same ground. Brief and occasional in form, it reflects the concerns of Victorian Christianity at a moment of change.
