Unspoken Sermons, Second Series

George MacDonald (1824–1905) was a Scottish author, poet, and Congregational minister. Briefly a pastor, he turned to writing and lecturing, producing fairy tales and novels that pioneered modern fantasy and deeply influenced C. S. Lewis. His theology found its most direct expression in his sermons: our library holds his Unspoken Sermons in three series and The Hope of the Gospel, works of imaginative, searching Christian reflection.

About this book

The second series of George MacDonald's Unspoken Sermons, published in 1885, continuing the meditations begun in the first. In sermon-essays of a quiet, searching kind, MacDonald dwells on God's Fatherhood, on the discipline of obedience, and on learning to do the will of God. Readers who know his novels will recognize the same voice: imaginative, tender, and earnest.
