The Saints' Everlasting Rest

The Saints' Everlasting Rest

Richard Baxter (1615–1691) was an English Puritan church leader and theologian. His ministry at Kidderminster transformed a neglected parish town, and though ejected in 1662 he remained one of Nonconformity's most influential voices, writing well over a hundred books. Our library holds The Reformed Pastor — his classic on the minister's work — A Call to the Unconverted, The Saints' Everlasting Rest, and his extensive Practical Works.

About this book

Richard Baxter's celebrated treatise on heaven, first published in 1650. Baxter urges believers to meditate seriously on the saints' everlasting rest, letting the hope of glory weaken the pull of earthly things and strengthen them for present duty. Written with a pastor's warmth and urgency, it became one of the most widely read Puritan books on the Christian's final hope.
