Karl Friedrich Adolf Wuttke (1819–1870) was a German Lutheran theologian who taught theology at Berlin and Halle. A conservative Lutheran voice in an age of theological upheaval, he wrote on ethics, the history of heathen religion, and German folk belief. He is chiefly remembered for his Christian Ethics, whose two volumes — a history of ethics and a systematic treatment of pure ethics — appear in our library in English translation.

The second volume of Adolf Wuttke's Christian Ethics, in the English translation of 1873. Having surveyed the history of ethics in the first volume, Wuttke here presents 'pure ethics': the principles of the Christian moral life grounded in regeneration and carried out in sanctification. A systematic treatment of how the gospel shapes conduct, character, and duty.
