Jonathan Edwards (1703–1758) was an American Congregationalist preacher and theologian in colonial New England. Pastor at Northampton, Massachusetts, he was a leading voice of the Great Awakening — his sermon Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God is famous — and later a missionary to Native Americans at Stockbridge. Works such as Religious Affections and The Life of David Brainerd, and many of his sermons, fill our library.

Volume two of the Worcester collected edition of Jonathan Edwards's works, issued in 1807 alongside the first volume. It continues the sermons and treatises through which Edwards taught on sin, grace, revival, and the Christian life. Together these volumes introduced many nineteenth-century readers to the depth and warmth of his theology.
