Doctrinal Theology

Doctrinal Theology

Heinrich Schmid (1811–1885) was a German Lutheran theologian who taught at the University of Erlangen from 1848. His best-known work, The Doctrinal Theology of the Evangelical Lutheran Church — in our library in the Hay and Jacobs translation — is not a system of his own but a vast, ordered collection of quotations from the great Lutheran dogmaticians of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.

About this book

An outline of Lutheran doctrinal theology by Heinrich Schmid, presented in English translation. Schmid gathers the teaching of the Lutheran church from its classic dogmaticians, arranging the doctrines in order so that the reader sees each article stated and supported from the Lutheran confessional tradition. It serves as a compact reference for the historic Lutheran system of doctrine.
