John Wood Oman (1860–1939) was a Scottish Presbyterian minister and theologian who taught at Westminster College, Cambridge, for over thirty years. Deeply read in Schleiermacher — whose Speeches on Religion he translated — he wrote on the place of freedom and personality in religion. Our library holds Grace and Personality (1917), his best-known book, which treats grace as God's personal dealing with free and responsible persons.

A theological study by John Oman, the Scottish minister and philosopher, published in 1917. Oman considers how the grace of God relates to human personality, arguing that God deals with men and women as free persons rather than by compulsion, and that grace perfects rather than overrides our nature. A thoughtful work from a distinctive Scottish theological voice.
