Thieleman Janszoon van Braght (1625–1664) was a Dutch Mennonite minister at Dordrecht. He devoted his short life to gathering the testimonies of Christians who had died for their faith, especially Anabaptists persecuted for believers' baptism. The result was the Martyrs Mirror (1660), in our library — a vast martyrology, second only to Foxe's in influence, still treasured in Mennonite and Amish homes.

Thieleman J. van Braght's Martyrs Mirror, first published in Dutch in 1660, gathers accounts of Christians who suffered and died for their faith. Its longest section remembers Anabaptist martyrs of the Reformation era, preserving their testimonies, letters, and confessions. Sober and often harrowing, it remains the defining martyrology of the Anabaptist tradition and a witness to costly discipleship.
