The Life of Adoniram Judson

The Life of Adoniram Judson

Edward Judson (1844–1914) was an American Baptist pastor, born at Moulmein, Burma, the son of missionary Adoniram Judson. After teaching Latin at Colgate he entered the ministry, and from 1881 served the New York church that became the Judson Memorial Church on Washington Square, built in his father's memory. Our library holds The Life of Adoniram Judson (1883), his biography of his father.

About this book

Edward Judson's biography presents his father Adoniram Judson, the American Baptist missionary whose long labor in Burma became a landmark of modern missions. Written by a son with access to family memory and papers, it follows Judson's conversion, voyages, translation work, imprisonment, bereavements, and perseverance. The portrait is affectionate without hiding the cost of pioneer missionary life.
