Albert Barnes (1798–1870) was an American Presbyterian clergyman and Bible commentator. Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia for thirty years, he was tried for heresy by the Old School party and helped form the New School; his trial made him famous. His plain, practical Notes on the New Testament — and later the Old — put verse-by-verse exposition into ordinary homes, and fill many volumes of our library.

About this book

Albert Barnes's notes on the book of Revelation, part of his popular Notes on the New Testament. Barnes explains the visions chapter by chapter in clear, unadorned prose, setting out his understanding of the symbols and their fulfillment in the course of history. A characteristic specimen of the most widely used American commentary of the nineteenth century.
