NPNF1-14. Saint Chrysostom: Homilies on the Gospel of St. John and the Epistle to the Hebrews

Philip Schaff (1819–1893) was a Swiss-born church historian who taught at Mercersburg and later at Union Theological Seminary in New York. A bridge between German scholarship and the English-speaking church, he founded the American Society of Church History and edited vast reference works. Our library's Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers series — which he conceived and edited — together with his History of the Christian Church and Creeds of Christendom, came largely through his labors.

About this book

A volume of the Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers series, edited by Philip Schaff, containing John Chrysostom's homilies on the Gospel of John and on the Epistle to the Hebrews. The John sermons dwell on the glory of Christ the Word made flesh, while the Hebrews series exalts his priesthood and urges perseverance. Together they close the series' Chrysostom volumes on a high note.
