Orthodoxy

Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874–1936) was an English writer and Christian apologist, famed for his wit, paradox, and defence of orthodox Christianity. A journalist and man of letters, he created the priest-detective Father Brown and wrote on nearly every subject of his day. Our library holds Heretics and Orthodoxy, in which he answered his critics and set out his own joyful creed; he entered the Roman Catholic Church in 1922.

About this book

G. K. Chesterton's spirited defense of historic Christianity, published in 1908 as the companion to his earlier Heretics. Through paradox, fairy tale, and everyday wonder, he argues that Christian orthodoxy best explains human nature, sin, joy, and the strange fitness of the world. It is a personal account of coming to believe the creed he found he had always needed.
