Jacobus Arminius (1560–1609) was a Dutch Reformed minister and theologian, professor at the University of Leiden from 1603. Within the Reformed church he questioned the prevailing teaching on predestination, urging a place for human free will and a universal offer of grace. After his death his followers, the Remonstrants, carried his views forward; the Synod of Dort (1618–19) rejected them. Our library holds his collected Works in three volumes.

The third volume of the works of Jacobus Arminius in the standard English translation, completing this collected edition. The volume gathers further treatises and writings in which Arminius defends and refines his teaching on grace and election. Together the three volumes remain the main source for studying Arminius himself rather than later summaries of him.
