Life for a Life and Other Addresses

Henry Drummond (1851–1897) was a Scottish evangelist and scientist. A lecturer in natural science at the Free Church College in Glasgow, he travelled with D. L. Moody's campaigns in Britain and America and spoke to students across the English-speaking world. His address The Greatest Thing in the World — a meditation on 1 Corinthians 13 — became a devotional classic; our library also holds The Ideal Life and other collections of his addresses.

About this book

Henry Drummond's addresses present the gospel in the direct, conversational manner that made the Scottish evangelist a popular speaker to students and working people. The title address and its companions turn from familiar texts and incidents to repentance, faith, character, and consecrated service. Published near the end of his life, the collection preserves Drummond's earnest simplicity in print.
