John William McGarvey (1829–1911) was an American minister and educator of the Restoration Movement, teaching at the College of the Bible in Lexington, Kentucky, for forty-six years and serving as its president from 1895. A firm opponent of theological liberalism and higher criticism, he wrote commentaries valued for their defence of the Bible's historical reliability. Our library holds his Commentary on Acts of the Apostles and The Four-Fold Gospel.

A harmony of the four Gospels by J. W. McGarvey, published in 1914. McGarvey weaves Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John into one continuous account of the life of Christ, arranged in order and accompanied by explanatory notes. It was designed for Bible classes and private readers who want to study the Lord's ministry as a single unfolding story.
