The Letters to the Seven Churches of Asia

The Letters to the Seven Churches of Asia

Sir William Mitchell Ramsay (1851–1939) was a Scottish archaeologist and New Testament scholar, the leading authority of his day on the history of Asia Minor. Trained in the sceptical Tübingen school, his years of excavation and travel in Turkey convinced him of the historical accuracy of Luke's writings. Our library holds St Paul the Traveller and the Roman Citizen, The Letters to the Seven Churches of Asia, and Was Christ Born in Bethlehem?

About this book

William M. Ramsay's study of the letters to the seven churches of Asia in Revelation 2 and 3, published in 1904. Drawing on his archaeological knowledge of the cities of western Asia Minor, Ramsay relates each letter to its city's history, customs, and local pride. The result illumines how precisely the risen Christ addressed each congregation's condition.
