John Bradford (1510–1555) was an English Reformer and martyr of the Marian persecution. Converted through the ministry of Hugh Latimer, he became chaplain to Bishop Nicholas Ridley and a prebendary of St Paul's Cathedral, preaching widely for the Reformation. Under Queen Mary he was imprisoned in the Tower and burned at Smithfield on 1 July 1555. Our library holds his sermons, tracts, and godly meditations on prayer.

Meditations on the Lord's Prayer by John Bradford, the English Reformer who was burned at the stake under Queen Mary. Written in the sixteenth century, they work through the prayer petition by petition, turning each request into searching self-examination and warm encouragement to trust God. A specimen of the earnest, Scripture-soaked devotion that marked the Marian martyrs.
