Creeds of Christendom, Volume III. The Creeds of the Evangelical Protestant Churches.

Philip Schaff (1819–1893) was a Swiss-born church historian who taught at Mercersburg and later at Union Theological Seminary in New York. A bridge between German scholarship and the English-speaking church, he founded the American Society of Church History and edited vast reference works. Our library's Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers series — which he conceived and edited — together with his History of the Christian Church and Creeds of Christendom, came largely through his labors.

About this book

The third volume of Philip Schaff's Creeds of Christendom, gathering the confessions of the evangelical Protestant churches. Here the great Reformation symbols — Lutheran, Reformed, Anglican, and others — are printed in their original languages with English translations, allowing readers to compare how the churches confessed one faith in different words. A standard reference for the study of the confessions.
